Opening Scene

The 3D computer generated animation for the Opening Scene was produced by Adam, he created two different styles for the opening scene to introduce the project.

The first design incorporated Earth with an eclipse; the logo then appeared. After the logo had been left on the screen for a few seconds the Prime Ministers Space Craft flies directly toward the camera.  This initial version was eventually rejected because it was too short to display the names of those involved.

Old Opening Scene - Plain Animation

This was a short set back for the team, the second design incorporates elements of the first opening scene, so all was not lost. In the second scene, the moon is used instead of the earth.  The word Futuricity fades in when the eclipse takes place, this text was designed in Adobe Photoshop by Gemma. The Prime Minister's Space Craft flies by the camera several times before landing, during this the names of those involved in the project are displayed - the final clip was arranged by Bryon.

Opening Scene Version One, was produced in Adobe Premiere by Bryon, using the footage that Adam has rendered in Maya.

Opening Scene Version Two builds on upon version one.  This time the 'Futuricity' title text moves out of shot when the camera changes. This was achieved by Bryon using a package called Adobe After Effects, using a feature with the program that tracks the movement of a specific point, in our case the moon.

The changes to Opening Scene Version Three came about after the team met to view the previous version.  Mark indicated that would look smarter if the production team name and the word 'presents' came up at the same time instead of in stages. Gemma added the idea of having the Futuricity logo fade in a few seconds later once the eclipse began.

Opening Scene Version FourAdam came up with the idea of having a lens flare to jazz up Gemma's Futuricity text, this was achieved by applying an effect within Adobe After Effects. Mark added that 'ABGM Productions Presents' would look better presented if the text was not so bright and blended with the cloud effect.

Opening Scene Verison Five sees the enhancement of the lense flare, the position of the centre light was moved under the letter 'r' of Futuricity.  Adam also asked that the lens flare faded out to make the transition smooth.

The improvements from the first version have given us the Final Opening Scene, the sound track that plays in the background was produced by Paul Butler.
